The Maine Lacrosse Officials Association (MLOA) provides two distinct registration paths for individuals interested in officiating boys’ lacrosse games, catering to different levels of play and age groups. 

Adult Officials Path: This registration is for adult referees (18 years and older) who plan to officiate games at the middle school, high school, and postgraduate levels. These officials will primarily be working games sanctioned by the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA), as well as other school-sponsored events, including middle school games and youth-level contests. This path is suitable for individuals who are looking to referee more competitive, school-affiliated games across a range of age groups. 

Youth Officials Path: This registration is specifically for high school and middle school students (ages 14-18) who are interested in officiating only at the youth level. These officials will work exclusively within the Maine Youth Lacrosse League (MYLL) and other similar youth lacrosse events. The youth officials’ path provides an opportunity for younger individuals to gain experience and develop their officiating skills in a supportive environment, focused on youth-level games. Both paths are designed to meet the unique needs of the officiating community at different levels, offering appropriate training, development, and opportunities based on the age and experience of the official.
